Why I Love this Bass:

Fender Squire is now one of the best series of bass that is loved by people all over the world. Fender is able to combine luxurious playability with the amazing versatility of this bass. Coming towards the Material used in the Bass, It comes with a stylish-looking Maple wood body in a double-cutaway shape.

its overall construction, finishing to its internal circuit wiring and binding, everything seems to be just perfect. That means you don’t have to worry about anything. Just pick this up and you can start your session.

Of course, you can upgrade the components of this bass to an even higher level but I find this bass guitar extremely amazing. As it passes through the Fender’s quality control, you’re not going to find any sharp fret-edges or any kind of pickup buzz.

Electronics and Hardware:

Coming towards the Electronics section, where you’re getting two single-coil Alnico pickups (Designed by Fender by itself) that are able to deliver massive tone from your bass. Personally, I find this tone kind of articulate and punchy sounding, that suits almost all playing styles.

On the top of the body, where you’re getting nice knobs to control master volume and master tone. I wouldn’t say, these are the best knobs, but the build quality of the knobs is average and certainly, they perform their jobs pretty well.

Nickel-plated hardware is given here that includes fixed bridge configuration along with a lightweight fender’s standard tuning machine heads. This setup works amazingly and provides solid support for the strings. That means you don’t have to worry about turning this bass often.

Ease in Playability:

Talking about my favorite section, To make this bass user-friendly, Fender included a slim, C-shaped neck profile here, that makes playing easy even for a beginner player. On the neck area, they are giving you vintage-tint gloss finishing that not only gives a highly desirable aged look to the bass but also helps in easy playing.

Along with that, narrow-tall frets, 9.5 inches fingerboard, a vintage-style bridge with slotted barrel saddles provide you a vintage look, solid string stability, and also helps to keep bass in tune.

  • Mahogany Body with Maple Top
  • Standard Tuning Machine Heads
  • Two Single-Coil Active Pickups
  • On-Board Controlling Knobs
  • Bolt-on Maple Neck Profile

Why I like this Bass:

Ibanez is one of the leading brands in the guitar industry and started to make an impact in the bass market too.

This GRS200 is full-size bass but has a little smaller body than usual. Having a quality maple wood top, Mahogany on the backside along with the finishing of walnut urethane coating gives really nice looks to this bass.

This model is equipped with simple but effective hardware that enhances the styling of this bass even more. From bridge to the tuning machine heads, everything was designed by Ibanez and finished in a classy black layer.

Electronics:

Here you’re getting two single-coil pickups (both are active) in a P/J configuration. One Precision-styled pickup is placed at the neck whereas a Jazz-style pickup is placed at the bridge end.

For the control section, where you’re getting two onboard master volume control knobs (one for each pickup), an EQ controller, and one master tone knob, that does provides some tonal range and increases the versatility of this bass.

Ease in Playability:

Coming towards the neck profile of this model, it comes with a Maple bolt-on neck profile combined with a rosewood fretboard with dotted inlays.

One more thing that I like about this bass is, edges of the body are rounded here that makes it very comfortable to hold and play. Also if you’re thinking about the weight, it’s only 9 pounds. 🙂

  • Weight: 9 Pounds
  • Light-Weight Basswood Body
  • Quality Construction & Craftsmanship
  • Fixed Bridge with Adjustable Saddles
  • One Ceramic Pickup
  • 2-band Active preamp
  • Hard Maple Neck Profile

Why I choose this Bass:

Being inspired by the Music man models, and with the type of build quality this bass has, you can expect to get much higher quality performance in terms of sound and playability.

Personally, I really think this Ray4 bass guitar is an amazing solution to the great-sounding tone at an affordable price. with that said, let’s discuss the tonewood here. Basswood is used for the body of this bass which of course has its own benefits and drawbacks.

Overall, this bass comes with quality construction and superb craftsmanship, that lets you play your bass straight out of the box.

Electronics and Hardware:

On the one side of the strings, this model has a fixed bridge just like the music man style, that supports four fully adjustable saddles whereas, on the other side, you’re getting four standard die-cast tuning machines. Although there is not much special about the hardware here they certainly do their job perfectly.

Coming towards the Electronics part, this model is loaded with the Ceramic pickup and 2-band Active preamp designed by themselves. It has three control knobs namely volume, treble, tone that let you play with your music however you want.

Ease in Playability:

This is the most exciting part here. This bass provides you wide range of tonal shaping options continued with one hot output. This bass comes with a Maple neck combined with a Maple fretboard having black dot inlays.

Both of the woods used in the neck profile are hard Maple that makes it easier to play because there is no ‘give’ from the fretboard surface on the strike.

Also, hard tonewood makes the sound crisp, clean, give a tight bottom end to it, and also makes it easier to produce than the softer one.

Check the Demo Sound:

  • Good Quality Craftsmanship
  • Comes with Lots of Tonal Shaping Options
  • Active Ceramics Pickup
  • Comfortable Maple Neck-Profile
  • Light-Weight, Easy to Play

This TRBX174 model has two passive ceramics pickups which are also designed by the Yamaha. Here you’re getting the P/ J configuration of the pickups that means, there is a split single-coil pickup at the neck like Precision bass whereas at the bridge you get pickup like a Jazz bass.

This is a superb configuration especially for beginner and intermediate players because it allows you to explore the myriad of tones from your bass.

Here in the control section, you’re not getting any pickup selector here but with one master tone control knob and two master volume control knobs (one of each pickup), you can adjust the mix as per your needs and preference.

Coming towards the Neck area of this mode, it has a bolt-on neck made from Maple wood. It’s a thin neck profile that is comfortable to hold and lets you play with faster speed. Continuing the neck, where you’re getting rosewood fretboard with dot inlays, which is expected considering the price of this bass.

Also, this model features a glossy polyurethane finish on the body and a silky smooth satin polyurethane finish around the neck area. This makes hand movement smooth and also enhances the looks of an instrument.

This custom-4 bass has a small body made up of Mahogany wood along with flamed maple, having walnut on the top side. Such an amazing combination of Tone-wood stands out even more with the natural finishing they give here.
